What is HPC

Holistic Progress Card is a 360 degree, multidimensional report of progress, that reflects in detail the progress as well as the uniqueness of each learner in the cognitive, affective, socio-emotional, and psychomotor domains. It is a shift in assessment from one that is summative primarily testing rote memorization skills, to one that is more regular and formative - competency-based. It promotes learning and development for children, and evaluating higher-order skills, such as analysis, critical thinking, and conceptual clarity.

Objective of HPC

  • It aids in charting the proficiency levels of foundational literacy and numeracy skills for every child.
  • Emphasis is placed on recognizing the individuality of each learner.
  • The objective is to depict a comprehensive view of a student's advancement, offering both evidence and a platform for the child to showcase personal growth during progress reviews over the years.
  • The documentation captures a child's self-expression and the teacher's evaluation based on competencies.
  • This establishes a crucial connection between home and school, involving parents as integral contributors to their child's learning journey.

Features of HPC

  • Utilizing a participatory, inclusive, and learner-centric approach.
  • Incorporating self-assessment, peer assessment, and parent feedback.
  • Assessment methods encompass project-based and inquiry-based learning, quizzes, role plays, group work, portfolios, and more.
  • Clearly defining explicit learning outcomes as the pathways for competency acquisition.
  • The approach to skill development in children is gradual and progressive.
  • Enhancing self-awareness and self-esteem by communicating strengths and areas of improvement.
  • Allowing space for children to learn at their own pace.
  • Structured around three Developmental Goals:
    • Health and Wellbeing
    • Effective Communicators
    • Involved Learners
